Corporate Staff Accountant

Description and Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger & Transaction Accounting
    • Manage procurement requests & creation of purchase orders
    • Responsible for accounts payable process, including 3-way match, entry of received invoices, and sending of remittance once paid
    • Ensuring adherence to vendor payment terms, payment currency and GST/HST tax
    • Maintenance of fixed asset listing, rental equipment listing, prepaid invoice listing and more
    • Responsible for employee expense reimbursement process
    • Assist with accounts receivable process, including tracking & follow-up of aging invoices
    • Proactively identify issues and assist in optimizing processes and automation
    • Assist with inventory cost accounting
  • Monthly Close and Financial Reporting
    • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis, including bank, credit card and accounts payable reconciliations.
    • Assist with quarterly reviews and annual audits
    • Help maintain internal controls and processes in accordance with SOX requirements
    • Assistance with tax returns as necessary (GST/HST, SRED)

 

Qualifications:

Experience, Education & Designation Requirements:

  • University Degree in Finance/Accounting
  • 4+ years professional accounting experience / 2+ corporate accounting in US GAAP environment
  • Experience with inventory, specifically in the manufacturing industry is a plus
  • Cross-border tax knowledge a plus
  • CPA a plus
  • Remote until September, plan to work from office downtown Toronto thereafter
